Bundesliga: Rummenigge talks about Sane, Kovac and BVB

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke at an event of the Bild about a possible transfer of Leroy Sane from Manchester City to FC Bayern. “We’ll try. I cannot promise whether it will succeed,” said the CEO of the German record champion.

The 63-year-old let it be known that sports director Hasan Salihamidzic will fly to England to become the Citizens’ offensive player and hold talks.

“We actually had the idea when he was still with Schalke,” Rummenigge explained to Sane, whose contract in Manchester runs until 2021: “But back then we didn’t have a guaranteed permanent position for him. Seals and Ribery were top of the top three years ago.”

Rummenigge spoke before the DFB cup final of the residents of Munich against RB Leipzig (Sa., 20 o’clock in the LIVETICKER) in addition about the future of coach Niko Kovac. “It would be crazy to make the future dependent on a game,” said the former striker.

Meanwhile Rummenigge is pleased about the positive development of Bavaria’s competitor Borussia Dortmund: “Dortmund is doing very well. I welcome that. This year, that was pure emotion. We are interested in clubs like Dortmund and Leipzig establishing themselves up there,” he said.
