Ribery: “I still spread fear”

Bundesliga: Ribery: "I still spread fear"

Despite his 36 years, Franck Ribery wants to continue playing at the top level. After twelve seasons with FC Bayern Munich, the French winger is looking for a new challenge.

“I’m still hungry, and I think I can still do a lot of work. I can still play in a big club. I have this experience that often makes the difference,” Ribery told the team. “I want to play for another two years.”

Which club he will play for next season is still open. “I get money everywhere. It’s more about the challenge. I am faced with an important decision,” Ribery said. “I must not think of myself, but of my wife and my five children.”

I hear there’s interest from Australia and Qatar. The most recent addition was the kicker Premier League promoted player Sheffield United. But the club already denied it.

“I still need the adrenaline. The day I feel like I’m done, I’m gonna stop. I’m realistic about that. My game is based on my physique and speed,” Ribery said. “When I’m on the field, I feel that I can still play at a very good level and that I’m still spreading fear.”

In the past Bundesliga season, Ribery scored six goals in 25 Bundesliga matches, one of them against Eintracht Frankfurt on the last matchday. “My last goal for the Bavarians has triggered something in me. I feel that I am still able to take on a nice challenge,” Ribery said.
