Bundesliga: RB Leipzig takes PSG jewel Christopher Nkunku home

RB Leipzig has signed the French U21 national player Christopher Nkunku of Paris Saint-Germain. The 21-year-old midfielder received a five-year contract from the cup finalist and is the third newcomer this summer.

“Christopher Nkunku and his skills fit our requirements very well. He is a dynamic and versatile player in the offensive field and thus increases the variability in our game,” said RB Sports Director Markus Krösche.

Nkunku was in the junior division of the French champion from 2010 to 2015. In December 2015 he switched to the professional team and made his debut there at the age of 18.

In the past season, Nkunku played 29 games for German coach Thomas Tuchel’s team, scoring four goals and scoring two goals.

RB Leipzig is no blank page for Nkunku. “I’ve heard a lot about the club and I’m convinced that the way football is played here suits me very well,” said the newcomer, who won the championship three times and the cup twice with Paris.

Previously, the Saxons had already signed midfielder Hannes Wolf of RB Salzburg and Brazilian defensive player Luan Candido of Palmeiras Sao Paulo. Wolf is out even longer because of an ankle fracture.
