Bundesliga: RB Leipzig: Case Timo Werner "unacceptable" for FIFPRO

The professional footballers’ representative (FIFPRO) has criticized the pressure exerted by RB Leipzig on Timo Werner. Meanwhile, the Red Bulls reacted to Hannes Wolf’s horror injury. Here you can find all news and rumours about RB Leipzig.

Timo Werner does not want to extend his contract with RB Leipzig and could therefore change his contract next summer without a replacement. RBL recently expressed its displeasure in this context. “I still don’t think that Timo has a good idea about going into a last contract year,” Ralf Rangnick told the kicker. “Depending on his performance, this could also be difficult with the fans, which would be a shame because he has developed into a darling of the audience.

Now the players association FIFPRO jumps to the side of the national striker. In an interview with Sky Sport News HD, Secretary General Jonas Baer-Hoffmann criticized the club.

“Of course, players have the right to have their contracts respected by the clubs,” he said.

Baer-Hoffmann continues: “Should these subliminal threats continue with Timo Werner, this is unacceptable. It is unacceptable, mostly to pillory young players who merely fulfil their contract, in the media and in public.”

Hannes Wolf’s horror injury overshadowed the opening victory of the Austrian U21 against Serbia. The newcomer to RB Leipzig suffered a fracture of the right outer ankle.

“The bone looked out, it looked really brutal, it was immediately clear that this is a serious injury”, said ÖFB team doctor Alexander Mildner.

RB Leipzig was shocked by the injury. The Red Bulls announced that they would do everything in their power to get WOlf fit again quickly.

The medical departments of the U21 national team, FC Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig advise on the further course of treatment.

In the first round of the DFB Cup RB Leipzig has to compete at the VfL Osnabrück. For the new coach Julian Nagelsmann, his counterpart in the second division is no stranger. With Daniel Thioune, Nagelsmann successfully completed the football teacher at the DFB three years ago.

Shortly after the draw there was already contact between the coaches. “I also received the first message about Whatsapp from him after the draw – with a smiley,” Thioune told the NOZ.
