Bundesliga: Kovac satisfied with US tour - important signal for Boateng

Niko Kovac of FC Bayern Munich was impressed by the course of the US trip so far. Jerome Boateng opened the FCB coach a new perspective for the upcoming season.

“We have very attractive opponents here. Everybody would like to recommend themselves, also, because in the first weeks perhaps less rotation takes place. We work well. The trip is a great success,” Kovac said after arriving in Kansas City in the night from Monday to Tuesday.

He was “very satisfied with the state of preparation” and recognized “physical and football progress”. Kovac cannot currently say that the players are tired due to the numerous appointments, moves and units: “Despite the long journey, the boys look very fresh and rested.

In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday FC Bayern will meet AC MIlan (4am live on DAZN) at the end of the US tour. Kovac announced a rotation: “We want to try to give each player about the same number of minutes, but we still want to get a good and powerful team on the pitch.”

But the FCB coach had good news not only for various youth and reserve players. Jerome Boateng, until recently a farewell candidate, also received positive words: “If he stays as it looks, he has the same chances as any other player. He is doing very well and I am very satisfied with his performance so far in the preparation.”

Boateng has already travelled back to Germany to take care of private matters. Kovac must have given him some tasks. The professionals should also receive such after their return: On Thursday and Friday Kovac has not scheduled any units in Munich, the players should spend the days with their family.

In the case of Lucas Hernandez, Bavaria will have to wait even longer for their comeback. The newcomer remained in Munich and worked individually. However, Kovac promised an earlier return than planned, the Frenchman worked “with commitment and discipline” on his full recovery.
