Bundesliga: Kovac: Resignation was never an issue

Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac never thought of resigning, even in difficult times. The coach gives the all-clear to the battered Serge Gnabry. The transfer of Leroy Sane remains a big question mark. Here you can find all news and rumours about the FCB.

Even in difficult times, Bayern Munich’s head coach did not deal with a resignation. The Croat contradicted a report of the SZ in the SportBild: “For me personally this was not an issue. I’m sitting here.” However, he had “given it a lot of thought” and dealt with the past season.

“I’ve had a very eventful year. When you come to rest after such a season, it all setstles for now. Only if I question myself and learn can I take the next step,” Kovac categorized. He is aware that the results count at the FCB: “I have my tasks to accomplish. I’ll stick to that.”

But all in all Kovac sees a decreasing respect for the coaching profession: “If you look at other countries, the status of the coach there is different from in the Bundesliga. Kovac sees this as a “social problem” and explains: “You have to see to it that you show everyone the necessary esteem and respect”.

Niko Kovac gave the all-clear to the early substituted Serge Gnabry after a 6-1 win over Fenerbahce. “Nothing happened. He’s got a strand on his front thigh that’s got a little tight. That was a precaution,” said the coach on ZDF.

Gnabry had been taken off the pitch after about 20 minutes for the later match winner Thomas Müller. The winger didn’t show much discomfort even when he was replaced. In the second match of the Audi Cup in the final against the Tottenham Hotspur (20.30 hrs), however, he will in all likelihood not be used.

Bayern Munich’s campaign for Leroy Sane remains a big question mark for the public. On Tuesday, the FCB made a clear effort to withdraw offensive statements and not to further annoy Manchester City. Niko Kovac also rowed back after diplomatic words of the chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Now the AS reports that FC Bayern’s chances on Sane continue to decline. Apparently, the Citizens have made Real Sociedad understand that there is no longer any interest in Mikel Oyarzabal. The Spaniard was last traded as Sane’s direct heir in city dress.

RB Leipzig’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff has put pressure on FC Bayern Munich in its bid for Timo Werner. The official stated in the SportBild that other clubs were interested in the striker. FC Bayern could therefore come too late in 2020.
