Investors deal: Hertha win 125 million

Bundesliga: Investors deal: Hertha win 125 million

Bundesliga team Hertha BSC can apparently count on a 125 million euro financial injection. As the news magazine Der Spiegel reports on Thursday, financial investor Lars Windhorst (42) joins the Capital City Club. For 37.5 percent of the association’s shares, 125 million euros are to flow to the Berliners via Windhorst’s holding company Tennor.

In addition, Windhorst will have the opportunity in the coming season to increase its stake to 49.9 percent at a higher price.

The capital is then to flow above all into the purchase of new players. “This increases our chances of coming within international reach in the medium term,” Hertha manager Michael Preetz told the Spiegel.

Windhorst also expects the deal to boost the second half of the Bundesliga season. “Like other clubs in London or Madrid, Hertha can become a real ‘Big City Club’,” Windhorst said.

Specifically, Hertha is looking for a replacement for grand piano player Valentino Lazaro, who is about to change to the traditional Italian club Inter Milan. A new striker and a new loan from midfielder Marko Grujic, signed to FC Liverpool, are also under discussion. However, league competitor Werder Bremen is also courting Grujic.
