Hoeneß about Sane-Transfer: “The chance is rather small”

Bundesliga: Hoeneß about Sane-Transfer: "The chance is rather small"

Uli Hoeneß is not particularly optimistic about Leroy Sane. Should the international switch to FC Bayern Munich, however, this would not diminish interest in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. Lothar Matthäus also advises the FCB to act quickly with Kai Havertz.

Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern.

FC Bayern are trying to guide Leroy Sane from Manchester City to Munich. This was confirmed by the club bosses over the past few days. President Uli Hoeneß has once again admitted this to Sky: “It’s as it says in the newspaper. We’re interested.”

Hoeneß believes, however, that it won’t be easy to convince Sane to change: “But the chance of getting him is rather small.”

Oliver Bierhoff, manager of the German national team, also has doubts: “Whether the unconditional desire to return to Germany is there now, I don’t think so much.”

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also announced in a discussion conducted by Bild that he wanted to sound out a transfer from Sane.

He also indicated that a change of German international would not put an end to the interest in Chelsea FC’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. The 18-year-old is currently missing due to a torn Achilles tendon.

Rummenigge has also parried about a few other issues. Oliver Kahn, for example, who will join the Bavarian Board of Management on January 1, 2020: “My contract runs until the end of 2021, we will make a kind of transition. Since he has no experience at all in this job, he has to familiarize himself with it,” says Rummenigge.

The boss of the board, however, fully trusts the former goalkeeper to take over the post: “You have to keep this store financially under fire so that it can keep up with the sporting activities up there. Oliver has developed well – and he is much more relaxed than before as a goalkeeper. I’m sure he can do it.”

What the reform of the Champions League and Europa League could look like from 2024, has recently become known for the first time. Rummenigge made the following comments on these plans: “This is a UEFA idea. It is now being discussed in an open, democratic, transparent process.”

Rummenigge is, however, “convinced that weekend games will no longer be an issue”. In addition, he believes “that the discussions will lead to a compromise that will not harm the Bundesliga”.

“For me Kai Havertz is the player of the season”, Lothar Matthäus said to the Sport Bild. Reason: “He led the team, scored the decisive goals – and he did it consistently. He was even stronger than Dortmund’s Marco Reus.”

Since the record national player believes that Havertz will also have options abroad, he gives Bayern Munich the following advice: “I would advise FC Bayern to get Kai Havertz as early as this summer. Better put a few million on it now before he goes abroad.”

Ex-Leverkusen manager Reiner Calmund also spoke at an event of the Bild in Berlin and is certain: “Kai Havertz will go to FC Bayern next year, not this year. He won’t change there.”

Havertz is still bound by contract in Leverkusen until 2022, and its transfer fee is estimated at between EUR 80 and 100 million. Calmund: “They still want to have a little fun with the boy. But he’ll change sometime. And then I hope he stays in Germany. And who can do it best: Bayern Munich.”
