Hoeneß about Boateng: “He can’t handle the bank”

Bundesliga: Hoeneß about Boateng: "He can't handle the bank"

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß has confirmed that it would be better for central defender Jerome Boateng to leave the German double winner early this summer.

On the sidelines of the Munich rescuer game on Monday evening at the 1st FC Kaiserslautern Hoeneß said to Sport1: “Next year we will have Hernandez and Pavard in addition. Besides, we have bumblebees and sule. Jerome has shown in the last few weeks that he is not a man for the bank. He can’t handle it.”

Boateng had often pressed the bench in the past weeks and seemed listless at the celebrations for championship and DFB Cup victory. Hoeneß added with a view to the competitive situation in the coming season: “It would be better for him to look for a new club”.

Already on Sunday Hoeneß Boateng had for the first time publicly suggested a departure at the official double party of the Bavarians on the Marienplatz. The 67-year-old then explained: “I would recommend him as a friend to leave the club. He needs a new challenge, he looks like a foreign body.”

On Monday evening, in contrast to many other stars in Kaiserslautern, Boateng was not in the squad. Officially for family reasons.

The 30-year-old defender had moved from Manchester City to Säbener Straße in the summer of 2011 for 13.5 million euros. His contract there runs until 2021. There should be interest from the Serie A club Inter Milan.
