Hoeneß: “A limit reached with 80 million”

Bundesliga: Hoeneß: "A limit reached with 80 million"

The old and new German champion Bayern Munich is scared back after the record transfer of world champion Lucas Hernandez to the sound barrier of 100 million Euro.

“We are not here at Monopoly, but we are a football club”, President Uli Hoeneß said on Saturday after the 5:1 against Eintracht Frankfurt, “we have reached a limit with 80 million times. I don’t think that’s going to be exceeded on any more transfers.”

The Bavarians have invested this sum in the French national player Hernandez of Atletico Madrid, who is coming in the summer. In addition, his compatriot Benjamin Pavard is switching from VfB Stuttgart and Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburger SV (three million euros) to the Isar for 35 million euros.

“We will certainly not stop changing the team. The upheaval will continue”, Hoeneß announced. Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic will “become active again” after the DFB Cup final against RB Leipzig on Saturday. Leipzig’s national player Timo Werner is considered a possible further entry.
