Funkel about the interest in Kevin Stöger

Now also Fortuna Düsseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel comments on the rumours that Kevin Stöger has attracted the interest of the AS Roma. After a strong season, the Düsseldorfers are threatened with a sell-out.

Düsseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel says in kicker to the rumours about the 25-year-old Austrian: “If I read that – that would be another huge step.”

The Austrian wants to leave all the doors open for him, according to kicker, and the contract is not to be extended until after the season. However, Funkel was calm with regard to a possible sell-out in the upcoming transfer period: “I am not afraid of possible departures in the summer. That’s normal when a team plays a strong season.”

Düsseldorf is currently 10th in the table, nine points short of 9th VfL Wolfsburg, who today presented Oliver Glasner as his new coach for the coming season. The Romans are sixth in the standings, six points behind the top three in the Europa League, one point short of fourth and one point short of Champions League place.
