Bundesliga: FCB quake: President Hoeneß clearly stops - his desire to succeed him is to be determined

The Uli Hoeneß era of the German record champion Bayern Munich is apparently coming to an end after 40 years in club leadership. According to the newspaper Bild-Zeitung, the president will not run for re-election in November, and Hoeneß also wants to give up his position as head of the supervisory board. A spokesman for FC Bayern did not want to comment on the report at the request of SOCCERSCORE and Goal

Hoeneß had played for the Bavarians until 1979, after his early career end he became manager of the club. In 2009, the now 67-year-old moved to the post of president, which he vacated during his prison sentence for tax evasion from 2 June 2014. After being released from prison, he returned in autumn 2016. Since the beginning of 2017, Hoeneß has again been Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Hoeneß, as player world champion, European champion, three times German champion and three times European cup winner, formed the FC Bayern to the most successful club of Germany. During his tenure as manager and president, the Munich team twice won the Champions League and the vast majority of the 29 league titles.
