Bundesliga: Does S04 get a Wagner protégé?

FC Schalke 04 should make intensive efforts for Christopher Schindler and Benito Raman. Weston McKennie also finds praiseworthy words for coach David Wagner.

Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Schalke 04.

According to a report in the Bild, Schalke 04 is interested in central defender Christopher Schindler. The 29-year-old is currently still in the service of Huddersfield Town. This would follow coach David Wagner, who coached the club from November 2015 to early 2019.

However, as the picture writes, the Englishmen should call for a double-digit million amount for Schindler. A lot of money for the royal blues.

Schindler moved from 1860 Munich to the island in 2016. He missed only four of 122 games during this time. In 2017, he converted the decisive penalty in the final against Reading and led his team into the Premier League. At Huddersfield, he still has a valid working paper until 2021.

Schalke 04 seems to be interested in Benito Raman according to a report of the picture. In addition to the royal blues, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach are also said to have kept an eye on the Belgian.

Raman, who was the most successful goal scorer of the Rhinelanders with ten goals alongside Doni Lukebakio, is expected to pay around 20 million euros. The Düsseldorf company have already rejected an initial offer for Raman. An undisclosed club is said to have bid between seven and ten million euros for the Belgian.

In recent weeks, Raman has reiterated his intention to leave the club in the summer. His contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf runs until 2022.

Weston McKennie is looking forward to the new season by hiring coach David Wagner. In addition, the US national player already inquired with his national team colleague Daniel Williams, who played under Wagner in Huddersfield.

“He told me that Wagner is a normal German coach. He likes to work hard, he likes to press, this style,” says McKennie, who says, “I’m looking forward to working with him. And it’s nice that he also has an American side. That’s good for me.”
