“Corona spook” brings FC Bayern to a standstill

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rules out a complete cancellation of the season and a soccer Bundesliga with only 14 or 16 clubs left, despite the current existential crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

For the CEO of the German record champions FC Bayern Munich, it would even be an option if the season did not end until September and the new season would not begin until next winter. “If this were not otherwise possible from a health and political assessment point of view, this scenario might have to be considered,” Rummenigge said in an interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.

“We should definitely play this season to the end, for reasons of sporting fairness, but of course also to keep the economic damage as low as possible,” said the Bavarian CEO to the general meeting of the German Football League in Frankfurt on Tuesday (10:30 am).
