Confusion over Bavaria’s China test

Bundesliga: Confusion over Bavaria's China test

FC Bayern Munich may have caused confusion with its cancellation of the test match against China. Hasan Salihamidzic reacted furious to the 1:1 against Nuremberg. Here you can find all news and rumours about the FCB.

FC Bayern Munich has apparently caused confusion with its cancellation of the planned test match in China. As the kicker reports, the Ministry of Sport of the country had no knowledge of such a friendly match. The Chinese Football Association never officially mentioned or confirmed the test.

The Bavarians had first announced the game in a press release, but then cancelled it a little later for an indefinite period. The reason given was the renovation work on the planned venue, the Chinese “bird’s nest”. There will definitely be no game on May 29th.

The Munich-based company announced this “at the request of the Chinese Ministry of State”, which is said to have requested a relocation for “organizational reasons”. The fact that they apparently know nothing about it now raises a question. And also whether the game will ever take place at all.

Hasan Salihamidzic has given vent to his dissatisfaction after FC Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Underdog Nürnberg: “We weren’t in the game at all, had no freshness, no forward action. It was a bad game for us, and it was happy.”

The small rival almost took the full three points from the Bavarians in the final phase, but missed the final shot from the penalty kick. “That wasn’t a good game on our part, of course. What, why, I can’t explain to myself now”, the Bavarian sports director showed himself surprised.

With regard to the BVB, Salihamidzic didn’t want any discussion to arise: “I’m not looking at the opponents at all, but at us winning the games. That wasn’t the case today, that was annoying and disappointing.”

Hasan Salihamidzic was a little premature in his expectation of the German championship before the match against 1 FC Nürnberg. The sports director reacted to the teasing of BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and invited the Borussian to the celebration on Marienplatz “when the time has come”.

Watzke should have convinced himself there that more than the “3000 people plus 1500 tourists” he estimated would cheer the Bavarians. After the 1:1 remis against Nuremberg the title race is still open: If the BVB are two points behind, a win and Bayern’s defeat at the same time could be enough for them to pass.

But on the weekend not only Salihamidzic expected the championship too early. BVB coach Lucien Favre declared the title race over after the 2:4 defeat in the derby, the Nuremberg match of the Bavarians was still pending. “We only give up when it is no longer possible to calculate,” Watzke explained in the meantime.
