Bundesliga: Chelsea apparently wants Leverkusen's Bailey

Chelsea FC apparently shows renewed interest in attacker Leon Bailey of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. That’s what the Daily Mail says. The Jamaican was already a transfer target of the London Premier League club a year ago, but a change did not take place at that time.

At the moment the Blues are again looking for reinforcements for the offensive outer lanes. Eden Hazard bids farewell to Real Madrid and the aging Willian and Pedro are to be replaced in the medium term. Bailey is one of the candidates, along with the Brazilian David Neres of Ajax Amsterdam.

Allegedly, Bayer is demanding a 90 million euro transfer for the new national player. After Julian Brandt’s move (to BVB for 25 million euros), it would be the next departure of a young offensive player that the Leverkusen team would have to cope with. At Chelsea Bailey together with Christian Pulisic (comes from BVB) would probably form the new wing tongs.

The interest of the Londoners last summer was already confirmed by the wing forward in November to FourFourTwo: “Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool. Many clubs have already shown interest,” said the attacker. In the end, the left foot stayed with the Werkself, despite a season that was rather mixed for his demands, Chelsea could now sign the 21-year-old.

A switch to the new season could, however, fail because of FIFA, which has imposed a transfer ban on the Europa League winner for breaches of the rules in the transfer of underage players. The case has not yet been closed, Chelsea is now taking the case to the International Court of Sport (CAS) for punishment.
