Bundesliga: BVB-News: Hazard wants to "do everything for titles

Borussia Dortmund’s newcomer Thorgan Hazard has expressed self-confident goals for the new season. Sports director Michael Zorc is in the same notch. Andre Schürrle could draw it to Russia. Here you can find all news and rumours about the BVB.

Borussia Dortmund’s newcomer Thorgan Hazard made a confident announcement before the coming season. “I hope we can win titles together. Either the championship or the DFB cup. I will do everything I can to achieve these goals,” the Belgian told Sport Bild.

Dortmund is “the next chapter” for Hazard: “I’m now playing with Dortmund in the Champions League for the championship. I am very happy to be with BVB now. I’ve already played in front of the yellow wall, but not with the fans behind me.”

It had been “time” to look for a new club. The BVB could be good for its development, explained Hazard: “The pressure is increasing, but it’s good for me and my development.” Overall, coach Lucien Favre was therefore not decisive: “Of course, it plays a role who the coach is. But it was crucial to take the next step.”

Borussia Dortmund’s sports director Michael Zorc has left speculations about Mats Hummels uncommented. In the Sport Bild, however, he summarized: “We are always striving to improve our squad. Right after last season, we said that this was a great motivation for the new series – but also a commitment for us.”

The sports director also looked forward to the coming season: “That’s why we want to try to play for the title in the new season”. The preparation for the new season starts on 3 July – then perhaps already with routine Hummels. According to Sport Bild, the latter is in agreement with the BVB and should earn ten million euros per year.

Michael Meier welcomes Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Mats Hummels from FC Bayern Munich. The former manager of the BVB said in the Sport Bild: “A commitment from Hummels is not only about helping the young players but also putting pressure on them”.

With the 30-year-old’s commitment, BVB would “refine” the existing strategy, said Meier: “In the past, you were successful in engaging young players with development potential. BVB under Jürgen Klopp has thus become a champion.”

Meier would see the Hummels transfer as a clear signal. CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke was aware of the importance of such an obligation: “Aki Watzke has made it clear that they want to attack – and they don’t just leave it to words”.

According to Sport Bild, Andre Schürrle of Borussia Dortmund is supposed to be in contact with Moscow clubs via his advisor. The player is not averse to moving to Russia. Schürrle’s advisor to The West had recently denied contact with Lazio.

According to media reports, Schürrle, who is still under contract in Dortmund until 2020, is aiming for a solution by the start of Borussia training on 3 July. After the rental business with FC Fulham, BVB would like to sell Schürrle before it enters its last contract year. Mario Götze’s prep goal in the 2014 World Cup final doesn’t seem to have a future under coach Lucien Favre.
