BVB against Augsburg without Guerreiro

Borussia Dortmund must resume the fight for the title without European Champion Raphael Guerreiro. The Portuguese will be absent due to a muscle fiber rupture.

“He is definitely missing,” said coach Lucien Favre before the opening match against FC Augsburg (Saturday, 15.30 in the LIVETICKER).

Returner Mats Hummels, who missed the Supercup against his former club Bayern Munich (2:0), will play as expected. Sports Director Michael Zorc expects a friendly welcome for the 2014 World Champion despite some grumbling from the ultra scene: “I don’t know why it should be any different,” he said.

Favre announced he was “ambitious.” Despite the new, more offensive BVB communication strategy, however, he sticks to his philosophy: “It goes from game to game. Done.” In his starting eleven against Augsburg, “two or three” positions are still open.
