Borussia Dortmund’s new member Julian Brandt is looking forward to the new challenges at BVB. “The quality is higher. The order of magnitude is a different one. This can be seen in the fan scene, but also in the international reach,” Brandt classified in an interview with the WAZ.

He left Bayer Leverkusen for 25 million: “It wasn’t easy for me. But I had a feeling I was up for something new. I want to prove myself again. It can do me good to face new challenges.” One of these challenges is the greater media pressure, as Brandt has already noticed: “When Dortmund had many points advantage last season and then a period of weakness, it was discussed very widely. When we were tenth with Leverkusen, you didn’t get the impression that there was outrage on the outside. The fact that things are different in Dortmund can shape me. Personal, but also playful.”

In Dortmund the goals are also set differently. Marco Reus recently proclaimed the championship, which impressed Brandt: “Marco is one reason why I chose Dortmund”. But Brandt added that he did not want to formulate his goals as offensively as the captain.

Andre Schürrle wants to leave Borussia Dortmund in summer 2019. The wingman will use various individual training sessions with personal coach Erik Jäger. This reports the picture. The 28-year-old is said to have aroused interest among others at the Italian capital club Lazio.

In addition to the extra layers, Schürrle has also changed his diet. “We mainly eat plant-based food. Since then, we have felt fitter and more energetic,” said wife Anna. After comparatively unsuccessful stops in Wolfsburg, Dortmund and most recently Fulham, Schürrle wants to attack again.

Borussia Dortmund, according to a report of Portuguese Record, has interest in Wendel from SL Sporting. In January 2018, the 21-year-old moved from his native Brazil to Lisbon, where he played 33 central midfield matches in the past season.

According to the report, Dortmund had already made contact and could raise the redemption of about ten million euros. However, it is questionable to what extent this sum corresponds to reality in view of Wendel’s important role in management and his contract, which runs until 2023.

Supercup against Bavaria

Ömer Toprak from Borussia Dortmund experienced a life-threatening accident at the age of 19. In the kicker, the central defender reported the incident on a kart track. “And suddenly I was ablaze,” the 29-year-old remembered. His vehicle had collided with another kart. He was sprayed with gasoline and his clothes caught fire.

Toprak rolled on the floor, his friends beat out the flames. Nevertheless, he suffered serious injuries and spent more than two months in a hospital near the accident site in Freiburg. “The doctors told them I wouldn’t die. But they were worried that I would lose my right leg,” Toprak remembered his awakening and his parents’ fears.

The helmet protected him from head injuries, but a total of 42 percent of his skin was burned. “I had to learn to walk again,” Toprak remembered. He never lost hope: “Strangely enough, I didn’t feel afraid that it wouldn’t be enough anymore. I wanted to play soccer again. That’s what I fought for.”
