Bundesliga: Boateng, Sane und Co.: Rummenigges statements in the analysis

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has spoken on several transfer topics around FC Bayern during the presentation of 80 million euro newcomer Lucas Hernandez. Among other things, the CEO spoke about the courted Leroy Sane, the unwanted Jerome Boateng and the waiting for a domino effect.

SOCCERSCORE and Goal take a close look at the most important Rummenigge statements.

“I don’t want to raise hopes, but there will be a lot more to come in the next two months that will surprise. A domino must fall, everything is waiting for this one domino, then there will be an effect. We’ll see what FC Bayern will do with this effect.”

Rummenigge reacted with these words to the criticism of the sluggish planning of the Munich squad and emphasized in this context again and again that there was still plenty of time until the end of the transfer on September 2 to land promising new arrivals. The “domino” mentioned by the 63-year-old offers plenty of room for speculation.

There are currently only three mega-transfers in the high double-digit and low triple-digit millions: that of Ajax jewel Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus, that of Manchester United midfield star Paul Pogba to Juventus or Real Madrid and that of Antoine Griezmann to FC Barcelona.

In particular, the Griezmann transfer, which cost 120 million euros, could bring movement to the transfer plans of the Bavarians. Because: With Griezmann, Barca’s offensive would be even more magnificent than it already is. If the PSG star Neymar, who is willing to change, were to return, the Catalans would also be forced to sell due to high salary costs. Then Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, who Barca President Josep Bartomeu recently described as “indispensable”, would quickly become candidates for change.

The FCB is said to be very interested in the latter. Rummenigge already announced that they would definitely want to secure another player for the outer lanes. The former Dortmunder Dembele seems not to be ready to come to Munich at the moment. A member of his consulting team let Sky know that the Frenchman sees himself with Barca in the long run. However, the Munich team is primarily looking for another wing striker anyway: Leroy Sane.

“Leroy Sane is returning from vacation this week. During this time he thought about his future, but did not want to have any conversations. Now you’ll have to wait and see if anything moves in that direction. We’re on the ball.”

At the latest after these statements the intentions of the Bavarians should be clear: Sane is their desired candidate for the succession of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, they wait first for his decision, before they seriously argue with medially traded alternatives like Steven Bergwijn (PSV Eindhoven) or Everton (Gremio Porto Alegre) or lurk for falling dominoes (Dembele).

So it’s entirely up to Sane whether the deal is made or not. If, contrary to recent reports, the international decides to move to Munich, Rummenigge and Co. could get together with the Manchester City officials. Ex-Bayern coach Pep Guardiola is said to be willing to let Sane go – for a suitable sum. It would probably go into the hundreds of millions. According to Rummenigge, the willingness of the Bavarians to pay such an amount seems to be present.

Good for the Bavarians: After his vacation, Sane should be able to communicate a decision about his future until the end of this week. In the event of a refusal, there would still be seven weeks left to repair the largest construction site in Niko Kovac’s squad elsewhere.
