Bundesliga: Because of RBL: Union boycott at BL's inaugural event

Some fans of the Bundesliga club Union Berlin have announced a mood boycott for the club’s historic first Bundesliga match on August 18. The occasion is the management philosophy of the opponent RB Leipzig.

“It is a matter of continuing to carry the protest consistently into the stadium and showing that we do not agree with the idea of football in Leipzig,” says a Unioner Ultras group statement.

A 15-minute silence at the beginning of the game is planned, which will be underpinned by optical actions. The club and the team have already informed the fans about their plans according to their own information.

There had already been protests during the duels with Leipzig in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2014 and 2015. In September 2014, 20,000 Union fans dressed in black plastic bags.
