Alaba about Hoeneß retreat: “A Shock”

David Alaba was surprised by Uli Hoeneß’s possible withdrawal from his positions at FC Bayern Munich. The left-back was quite surprised after the last test match of the US Tour (1-0 against AC Milan).

“In the first moment it was a shock, I was not prepared for something like this”, Alaba is quoted by SportBild reporter Tobias Altschäffl. The Austrian stated that FC Bayern would be “hard to imagine” without Hoeneß.

The image had announced on Tuesday evening that Hoeneß was planning not to be re-elected as president at the annual general meeting in November 2019. The 67-year-old also wants to resign as head of the supervisory board.

Alaba, however, suspected: “Whether he has a position or not, he will always have influence on the club.” The rumours have not yet been commented on officially. FC Bayern in person of media director Stefan Mennerich in Kansas City did not want to give an opinion.
