Midfielder Sebastian Rudy faces a transfer from Schalke 04 to his Bundesliga opponent 1899 Hoffenheim. That report the sports picture and the kicker coincidentally. Accordingly, both clubs had already agreed on a rental deal for the 2018 World Cup participant and “only details” had to be clarified.
A switch to 1899 would be Rudy’s return to the club where he delivered his strongest performances. From 2010 to 2017, the flexible defensive player was under contract in Hoffenheim and became a national player there (27 appearances for the DFB team). The free transfer to FC Bayern followed.
From there, after only one year, it went to Schalke 04 for 16 million Euros. There, Rudy disappointed the high expectations and became a symbol for the corked up pre-season of the squires with his discouraged and unlucky performances.
The 29-year-old’s contract with Schalke runs until 2022 and he didn’t actually want to leave S04 yet. In an interview with SOCCERSCORE and Goal a few weeks ago, Rudy explained: “I haven’t shown what I can do. Therefore I am disappointed by my personal achievements. From now on I approach the whole thing a bit differently and try to show what makes me strong. I want to prove to my critics that they are wrong and that I can do better – this thought motivates me immensely.”
Apparently there has been a rethink. In Hoffenheim, Rudy could take the place of Kerem Demirbay, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen, in the defensive midfield.
