Today, Thursday, FC Augsburg will play a test match against the Turkish champion Galatasaray Istanbul at their training camp in Tyrol. Here you can find out everything about the friendly match and where you can watch the match live.
FC Augsburg are in the midst of at least a small upheaval: In Iago (Internacional), Carlos Gruezo (FC Dallas), Florian Niederlechner (SC Freiburg), Ruben Vargas (FC Luzern) and Noah Sarenren Bazee (Hannover 96), the Fuggerstadt-based team brought five potential regulars into the team.
Coach Martin Schmidt therefore has a lot of integration work to do in the season preparation and uses test matches against some well-known opponents: After a test match against the national league team FC Gundelfingen (6:0) followed a lightning tournament with wins against Greuther Fürth (1:0) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (1:0).
Within the framework of the Augsburg training camp in Bad Häring, the Fuggerstadt team will meet Galatasaray, 22 times Turkish champion and 18 times cup winner, as well as FC Villarreal (Friday) today, Thursday.
Schmidt had previously planned a team-building measure in the Swiss mountains with overnight stays in a simple mountain hut and thus consciously sought a contrast to the training camp with a four-star hotel. “That’s on purpose. You have to get out of the comfort zone and experience something like this again: no water, an outhouse as a toilet, sleeping with 24 people in a small room. Then you appreciate a training camp like the one here again and you really feel like working in such an environment,” said Schmidt.
The test match between FC Augsburg and Galatsaray Istanbul will take place in Innsbruck’s Tivoli Stadium. The meeting kicks off at 7:00. To the chagrin of all Augsburg fans in Germany, the friendly match is not broadcast on TV.
A transmission via live stream via the channels of the Fuggerstädter (Facebook live, YouTube etc.) is also not planned according to the current status.

Is he staying? Or is he leaving? Martin Hinteregger is back at FC Augsburg after his loan to Eintracht Frankfurt. There, after his public criticism of the then coach Manuel Baum, he was chased off the court in January as a persona non grata and in the following second half of the season he advanced to become a top performer and public favourite for Eintracht.
Hinteregger subsequently made it clear several times that there was “only Frankfurt” for him and that he hoped to stay in the Main metropolis. The SBU also made no secret of its intention to firmly commit the 26-year-old central defender. But now a turn in “Hinti Poker” is looming. The transfer came to a standstill due to different ideas regarding the redemption. And Hinteregger? He struck other notes from the training camp in Tyrol.
“Now I’m here, FCA player, with two years left on my contract. If the old coach had still been there, it would certainly not have gone on for me. But now we have a new top trainer team,” said Hinteregger and hinted at staying in the Fugger city: “Three years ago I knew what I was getting into with a five-year contract. And he wasn’t unhappy in Augsburg for the first two and a half years.”
Coach Martin Schmidt, on the other hand, didn’t want to comment on the “ongoing topic of Hinteregger”: “It’s not annoying, but I don’t want to talk about him all the time. I’m his coach, he’s my player. I train him and I get him ready for the first game against Verl. Everything else is decided by others.”
