Spain’s champions FC Barcelona are pushing ahead with their efforts to bring back superstar Neymar. According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, Barca plans to enter into concrete talks with Paris Saint-Germain about a transfer of the Brazilian.
The crux of the deal is and remains the Parisian redemption claim. PSG would like to get back the 222 million euros invested in Neymar’s commitment two years ago. That’s a lot more than the Catalans can pay. Although Malcolm was handed over to Zenit St. Petersburg for more than 40 million Euros during the week, further retirements are necessary: For example, there is definitely no place left for his compatriot Coutinho for a Neymar commitment at Camp Nou. Rafinha Alcantara will also be sold.
PSG knows about Neymar’s wish to change. If Barcelona were not necessarily its desired destination, a transfer might already have taken place. However, the relationship between the two clubs has been shattered since Neymar’s controversial move to the Seine in 2017. PSG will therefore not make it easy for the Brazilian to get back on the track despite all the annoying background noises in the preparation for the new season.
Barca hopes that the negotiations will bring some movement into the matter in the next few days. Perhaps Neymar, who has played little of a role in Thomas Tuchel’s eleven’s preparations for the season so far, will also be pushing for an exit from the French capital.
Time is also a factor here. The new season in the Ligue 1 starts on August 9th. One week later LaLiga starts into the coming season. Neymar is still under contract in Paris until 2022. On Saturday he missed the 2:1 victory against Stade Rennes in the Supercup because of a suspension.
