Lionel Messi injured himself in the first training session after the summer break and misses the upcoming US tour of FC Barcelona.

As the Spanish champion announced on Monday, Messi contracted a “calf strain of the first degree” in his right leg. The Argentinian had to stop the practice session prematurely.

How long Messi will be out of action is still open. The only thing that is clear is that he will stay in Barcelona for recovery.

The team will travel to the USA without their superstar, where they will play two test matches against the SSC Naples on August 7 (Miami) and August 10 (Michigan).

The official season kick-off in the league for the Catalans is on August 16th, when you have to compete in Bilbao (9 pm live on DAZN).
