The Madrid suburb side defeated relegation threat FC Girona 2-0 (1-0) on the 36th matchday of the Primera Division and are three points ahead of FC Sevilla, who lost 3-0 to CD Leganes on Friday, with 58 points to their name two days from the end of the season.
Getafe has also won against the Andalusians the direct comparison that decides in Spain’s football in points equality. FC Valencia (52) can move up to three points at Getafe with a win at the taillight SD Huesca on Sunday evening (20:45) and catch up with Sevilla.
Jorge Molina (16th) and Angel (77th) scored for Getafe, which until now has only been represented internationally in the UEFA Cup (2007/08) and the follow-up competition Europa League (2010/11). At Girona Borja Garcia saw the red card (69.).
