Bundesliga: Schalke transfers 2019/2020: Kabak, Kenny and Co. - these new additions have S04 fixed

After a disappointing season 2018/19 FC Schalke 04 is preparing for the upcoming season 2019/2020. Here is an overview of the transfers already made by S04.

FC Schalke 04 has so far spent a total of 17.5 million euros on three new players on the transfer market.

Jonas Carlos also moved up from Schalke II to the pros. Pablo Insua (SD Huesca) and Fabian Reese (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) returned from their loans.

With the engagement of Ozan Kabak, Schalke has achieved a real coup. The 19-year-old Turkish central defender was also courted by FC Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Kabak had only switched from Galatasaray Istanbul to VfB Stuttgart in January for eleven million euros. After the relegation of the Swabians, he remains in the Bundesliga. S04 pays the fixed transfer fee of 15 million euros and contracts Kabak until 2024.

In summer 2018, FC Schalke 04 had sold Bernard Tekpetey to SC Paderborn for 150,000 euros – and secured a buy-back clause of 2.5 million euros, which the club now withdrew. Tekpetey had a convincing season and scored ten goals for the SCP in 32 second division games and prepared six more.

Schalke may possibly lend the 21-year-old right-winger directly. “Those in charge will now discuss his sporting future with the 21-year-old in peace and quiet,” a press release on the transfer announcement said. Allegedly Fortuna Düsseldorf is interested in a loan.

Kenny went through the youth division of Everton FC and then gained his first professional experience as a rental player with Wigan Athletic (2015) and Oxford United (2016). As a result, the right-back established himself in Everton’s professional squad and has played 31 Premier League games to date.

However, he did not succeed in jumping to the regular player – Schalke is supposed to be able to do just that. S04 borrowed Kenny for a season. His contract with Everton runs until 2022.

“It is a great opportunity for me to come to a new country and present my skills on a big stage at Schalke. The S04 is a club with an impressive history and fantastic fans. I’m happy to be here and can’t wait for it to start,” says Kenny.

Most recently he took part in the U21-EM in Italy with the English U21. That’s where we met him for an interview.
