S04 obviously interested in Hysaj of Napoli

Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 should show interest in a summer transfer of defender Elseid Hysaj from Italian runner-up SSC Naples. This is what the Neapolitan daily Il Mattino writes. The right-back more or less openly flirts with a transfer to the coming season.

However, for weeks LaLiga top club Atletico Madrid has been the favourite for Hysaj’s services. The Rojiblancos are currently rebuilding almost their entire defence, and talks with the captain of the Albanian national team (47 caps) have been going on for some time.

Hysaj can not only be called up on the right defensive side, but can also occupy the position of the left defender. This is what makes the 25-year-old so popular – and also so valuable: 22 million euros in sales are under discussion for him.

Napoli had hired him in 2015 for five million euros from FC Empoli. Hysaj’s contract with Partenopei runs until 2021.

A few days ago Schalke 04 signed Jonjoe Kenny from Everton FC as a new legal defender. On the left defensive outer lane, however, there is still need for action, especially since Transferflop Hamza Mendyl is to be surrendered and in the case of Bastian Oczipka only an experienced left defender would be available.
