FC Schalke 04 is apparently about to transfer Miguel Trauco from Flamengo. According to the Turkish portal Ajansspor, the Peruvian left-back will soon arrive in Gelsenkirchen. Background of the Turkish information: Istanbul club Besiktas was probably outdone in advertising.
Trauco is still under contract with Flamengo until the end of 2019, which could significantly reduce the necessary transfer fee. The 27-year-old recently played very successfully with Peru in the Copa America, but lost to Brazil in the final of the tournament. There he has been playing since 2017, before that he spent his career exclusively in Peru.
While Trauco is the undisputed regular in the national team, he is more of a substitute in Flamengo in the current season. Since the end of April, he has played in four leagues and four times in the squad without being substituted. He missed two games because of the Copa America.
FC Schalke 04 is still interested in Benjamin Henrichs. How a possible borrowing of the backfighter would be influenced by a commitment from Miguel Trauco is still unknown. 22-year-old Henrichs can play left and right.
However, an obligation on the U21 national player would not be a long-term solution. Since the AS Monaco probably demands up to 35 million Euros, Schalke is currently only interested in a loan. Since SV Werder Bremen and FC Bayern Munich are also considered interested, the possibilities are limited.
FC Schalke 04 has not yet appointed a captain for the coming season. According to Benjamin Stambouli, this is not absolutely necessary at the moment: “At the moment, all experienced players are a bit captains with us. We’re trying to lead the young players.”
Sooner or later, however, it must come to the election. Then Stambouli would at least not say no: “The coach will decide that. It’s not important for me to wear the bandage on my arm.” So far the midfielder feels in good hands under the new coach David Wagner.
“If you want to be good and successful, you have to have a high workload. The coach tells us what he’s going to do in the new season. He likes it when we defend to the front,” Stambouli arranged the first units of the preparation. Wagner always had very intensive training.
FC Schalke 04 will meet Norwich City from the English Premier League tonight. The test match in Lotte marks the end of the short training camp in Herzlake and will be played in front of around 10,000 spectators. From 18.30 DAZN will broadcast the game live.
