Reyna has decided: “Will only play for the USA”

Borussia Dortmund’s talent Giovanni Reyna could theoretically have played for four nations. Now he has decided – for the USA. “For me it is quite clear,” the 17-year-old is quoted in the “Ruhr Nachrichten”: “I will only play for the USA, that is my home country. His father Claudio Reyna, who plays in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg, has taken part in four world championships with the USA.

Reyna, who has already played for US junior teams, was nominated last week for the first time by US national coach Gregg Berhalter. The USA will play test matches against the Netherlands and Wales at the end of March. “Maybe I can celebrate my debut. I’m definitely ready,” said Reyna.
