RB warns FCB: Other clubs want Werner

Timo Werner from RB Leipzig has not only aroused interest at FC Bayern Munich and could also sign with another club. This was made clear by Leipzig’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff.

“If Timo were not to extend, we would like to be relieved. There are numerous interested parties. Top international clubs have also asked,” Mintzlaff told SportBild.

FC Bayern has been interested in Werner for quite some time. However, the record champion is obviously aiming for a change without a replacement in the summer of 2020 – a scenario that Leipzig does not like. The Red Bulls would like to extend or sell this summer, as has already been stressed several times.

Mintzlaff, however, is aware of the difficult situation: “We are not behind the wheel, but can only make offers and wait. Everything else is not our construction site.” The discussions with Werner and his advisors “were and are good”, the functionary stressed: “I can understand that it is difficult for Timo. But you have to make decisions in life, and Timo’s will definitely be there soon.”

If Werner were to leave Leipzig this summer, there would probably be a replacement. All in all, RB wants to close the file: “We’ve been talking about this for almost a year.” Should Werner not extend his term and leave in 2020, he would still remain an “important part” of the team, added Mintzlaff.
