Kehl: “Not giving up is part of our DNA”

Bundesliga: Kehl: "Not giving up is part of our DNA"

Borussia Dortmund is hoping for a failure of the competition in the last match days. That also explains Sebastian Kehl. Meanwhile, plans for the new season are being forged. These include Lucien Favre – and perhaps also Nico Schulz. All news and rumours about the BVB can be found here.

“We’re still in the race,” Borussia Dortmund’s head of licensing Sebastian Kehl explains before the Bundesliga game Borussia Dortmund at SV Werder Bremen. “We will give everything to the end. It’s part of our DNA.”

So the black-yellow faith is still intact after the disappointing defeat in the derby against Schalke 04. However, the Borussians not only lost three points against their local rivals, but also Marco Reus and Marius Wolf.

“Of course we’d rather play with Marco,” quotes kicker Kehl. “He’s our captain and he can decide a game.” At the same time, Borussia has great confidence in the potential replacement.

Rumours of differences between coach Lucien Favre and the players have been a constant topic in recent weeks. But now the BVB has committed itself to the trainer in the first year.

Sport director Michael Zorc stressed in the kicker that Borussia “will definitely go into the new season with him”. Favre would stay, “regardless of whether we become champions or not.”

The Swiss has a contract that runs until 2020. The Bundesliga has repeatedly demonstrated in the recent past that this and the commitments of those responsible are not always meaningful in today’s age.

The BVB are looking for a backfielder on the left and a potential candidate gives a lot of hope to the club, their leaders and their fans. Nico Schulz admitted in the kicker that he would like to change to a new club if it was bigger than his current one.

“I’d like to go to a top club once,” Schulz revealed. “The people in charge here know that.” Schulz has been associated with BVB in recent weeks, and after another candidate for the position, Filipe Luis, says he prefers to stay in Madrid, the 26-year-old seems to be an increasingly interesting topic.

“There are some top clubs,” said the international. “Dortmund is definitely one of them.” Schulz still has a current contract with TSG until 2021.

Peter Gulasci of RB Leipzig has set himself and his team ambitious goals for the rest of the season. The goalkeeper of the Red Bulls plays with the idea of attacking Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich.

“Nobody can overtake us anymore, and if you still have a small chance to look ahead: Why not?” asked Gulasci in the kicker. The 28-year-old has his eye on the title fight and can well imagine relegating one of the two top clubs to third place.

Leipzig still had “the chance to play for second place”, said the goalkeeper. In view of a five-point gap to the current second-placed BVB and a seven-point deficit to the Munich leaders in three games to come, Leipzig would be dependent on unusual losses of points from their opponents.
