Borussia Dortmund will have the training ground converted for around 20 million euros. The preparation under coach Lucien Favre starts today, Marco Reus sets big goals. Andre Schürrle and Shinji Kagawa will no longer be there. Here you can find all news and rumours about the BVB.
Borussia Dortmund will have its own training ground rebuilt for around 20 million euros, according to a report in Bild. This will not only increase the safety factor, but also create further training opportunities. “The new training centre is intended to give players the impulse to want to play here at all costs,” said coordinator Lars Ricken.
Among other things, a new indoor hall will ensure this. In the “barrel roof hall”, artificial turf is played and trained on 45 x 65 metres. The ceilings are twelve metres high and thus allow extensive work even under adverse conditions. In addition, the sports office will be relocated to Brackel, shortening the distances.
Safety is to be increased – probably also as a result of the bomb attack of 2017. A barrier will soon work with automatic license plate recognition, and a specially set up “security team” will check letters and parcels before delivery.
Captain Marco Reus has set ambitious goals for the coming season. “The goal should always be to win the contest you’re taking part in. After the last season and our new commitments this summer, I don’t think another goal for the season makes any sense at all,” said the 30-year-old in SportBild.
Reus was especially pleased about the “sportive reinforcement” of Mats Hummel. But names alone are not enough, he warned: “It will be important for us to quickly become one with all new players – on the pitch, but also in the cabin. This is the only way we can be successful.”
Reus doesn’t know his own position yet. However, he has a slight preference: “I think that I can best bring in my strengths from the offensive midfield and help the team the most from this position. The coach knows that too.”
Borussia Dortmund starts today, Wednesday, in the preparation for the coming season. Coach Lucien Favre, however, does not ask for a direct place on the pitch, but has some tests carried out for the time being. The performance diagnostics are spread over the entire day and are intended to provide information about the status of the professionals after their holidays.
However, many players will not be available yet. The national players are still on holiday for another week, Achraf Hakimi is active in the Africa Cup with Morocco. He will meet Benin in the round of 16 on Friday (18h live on DAZN).
Borussia Dortmund apparently exempted Andre Schürrle and Shinji Kagawa from training. According to various media reports, both professionals should fully concentrate on the search for a new employer and will therefore not participate in the performance diagnostics and the first units under coach Lucien Favre.
While Kagawa continues to search for possible employment in Spain and otherwise probably stays with Besiktas in Turkey, the future of Schürrle is not so clear. The wingman was recently associated with a move to Italy as well as a return to England.
