Bundesliga: BVB clarifies future of Favre

Vice-champion Borussia Dortmund has extended the contract with his coach Lucien Favre early by one season until 30 June 2021.

The 61-year-old Swiss had taken over the club last summer and, in the midst of an upheaval, almost led it to the championship title. The decision in favour of Bayern Munich was made only on the last matchday.

“Lucien has created clear structures and developed our players further,” said BVB Sports Director Michael Zorc. Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke stressed that Favre had “fulfilled expectations 100 percent”. To go with him into the future is “logical”.
