Amine Harit spoke for the first time in detail about the course of the fatal car accident in which he was involved about a year ago in Morocco, and spoke of the “worst moment of my life”. The accident in Marrakech, in which a pedestrian died, was “a drama that is hard to forget,” Harit told the L’Equipe.
He had been with his brother “around 22 o’clock” after a meal “not unusually fast”, “but probably 10 to 15 km/h above the speed limit. There was this person crossing the street,” Harit describes the events of June 29, 2018: “Then the shock! I stopped 100 to 150 meters from the accident because I could hardly realize it. I waited for the police, was in shock, the worst moment of my life.”
Harit was sentenced to four months on probation after the fatal accident, paid a fine and, according to the picture, 10,000 euros in blood money to the victim’s surviving dependants.
“This was the beginning of a very complicated time. My parents first went to the victim’s family, I wasn’t feeling well, so I phoned them,” Harit said: “I felt a little better when I talked to the mother and family. That was what burdened me the most.”
After the accident, he tried to build on the good performances of his first season at FC Schalke 04, “but when I was on the pitch, I told myself that I would not succeed. It just didn’t feel right in my deepest core.”
The 22-year-old Moroccan national player had to struggle with injuries, form crises and lack of discipline and was even temporarily removed from the squad. In conversation with the L’Equipe, however, he stated that he had been purified. “When I found out I was going to be a father, I clicked. In football, you can fool around, but with a child, you don’t have the right to make mistakes. I understand I have to change.”
He hopes that he will be able to “get one hundred percent out” in the coming season, and that “there won’t be a problem any more.”
According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, the change of Benito Raman from Fortuna Düsseldorf to FC Schalke 04, which has already been announced as fixed, is still not over yet. The picture had reported on an agreement between the two clubs late on Saturday evening.
According to the newspaper, the Fortuna and the Royal Blue had agreed on a transfer of about nine million euros plus bonus payments for Raman.
In return, Bernard Tekpetey, who last stormed Paderborn for SC Paderborn and returned to the royal blue for 2.5 million euros, will come to the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia for two years on loan.
At the request of SOCCERSCORE and Goal, Fortuna’s sports director Lutz Pfannenstiel denied such an agreement. “I’m surprised at the news. There can be no question of an agreement at all”, Pfannenstiel said later in a statement of the club: “Today it’s the status quo that we expect Benito to arrive punctually for the first training session here at Fortuna.
