Bundesliga: Bobic: Big transfers? "Doesn't make sense"

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sports Director Fredi Bobic is currently planning his squad for the coming season. The sale of Luka Jovic will provide the SBU with several million euros. However, Bobic excludes large transfers. The 47-year-old also comments on the loan players Martin Hinteregger, Sebastian Rode and Kevin Trapp.

Despite the sale of top striker Luka Jovic to Real Madrid for 60 million euros, Fredi Bobic has ruled out large transfers. “Of course we’ll invest in the team too, but reasonably. A really big transfer would be in the high double-digit millions. We’re not gonna do that, of course. That doesn’t make sense”, Bobic made clear at the podcast “The sixteenth” and added: “We have to do well and we don’t only have some catching up to do in terms of sport. It moves a lot in the whole club.”

Due to the sporting success of recent years and the emergence of some talents, Eintracht Frankfurt enjoys a high status in Europe, says Bobic: “We are more attractive for consultants and agencies. The trust is now great. We can take players to the next level. It’s not just Jovic: Jesus Vallejo was here or Omar Mascarell. That’s why you’re now being offered players you wouldn’t have had three years ago.”

Bobic wants to hire three players on loan: Martin Hinteregger (FC Augsburg), Sebastian Rode (Borussia Dortmund) and Kevin Trapp (Paris Saint-Germain). “We have deposited our interest. But it’s not that easy. Everyone actually wants to stay with us. But it’s not so easy with the clubs. Every club tries to test the market,” Bobic explained.

To engage goalkeeper Trapp will probably be a particularly difficult undertaking. After Gianluigi Buffon’s farewell and Alphonse Areola’s unclear future, the 28-year-old is apparently to return to PSG in France.

“Paris is a little confused right now, but negotiations are underway. Kevin Trapp looks very good on us. He’d be happy if he could stay. Maybe all three will succeed, maybe only two or one,” Bobic said.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s interest in a commitment from Djibril Sow has been known for quite some time. As Sky reports, the transfer is now close to completion.

The midfielder is expected to leave the Young Boys Bern within the next few days and will then complete the medical check. Eintracht coach Adi Hütter still knows Sow from his time together in Bern, which is why the 22-year-old is a dream player of the SGE coach.
