„Playing it all out“: Bayer crisis continues to worsen

Bayer Leverkusen is losing sight of the big goal of the Champions League. In order not to jeopardise the Europa League, the serious crisis must finally bring results back.

After the next bitter pill Peter Bosz was served. „We are in a difficult phase, we are losing far too many games,“ said Bayer Leverkusen’s coach after scoring 1-2 (0-0) against SC Freiburg. His team had played better football than in recent weeks, „but the ball has to get in at the end“.

To score just one goal from 21 shots is „not enough,“ the Dutch emphasized. International player Nadiem Amiri brought the misery of the last few weeks to the point: „Feels like we’re playing it all out.“

The crisis under the Bayer Cross is worsening – the pressure on Bosz is growing. Although Sports CEO Rudi Völler had already made it clear before the Freiburg match at „Sky“: „We are naturally disappointed with the last few weeks. But we have already shown under Peter Bosz what wonderful football we can play. We are totally convinced of his abilities and that we will get back on track.“

However, the yield of the past eleven league games is frightening with nine lean points. The dream of the Champions League is getting further and further away for the factory club, which is five points behind in fourth place, and even the European League qualification is in danger.
